What is sync and how do I check for it?
Sync is the connection between the DSL modem and the phone company's central office. Once your DSL line is activated your modem should be able to get sync. This is usually indicated by a solid sync light.

Which light is the Sync light?

Some common names for the sync light on DSL modems are: ADSL, DSL, Line, Sync, Broadband link, WAN Link, and Ready Below is a list of modems and the light that indicates sync:
ComTrend – ADSL
Dlink 2320-B - DSL

Linkmax Green - Line (should be solid, color does not matter)

Linkmax Black - Sync/PPPoE (should be solid amber or flashing green)

Arescom - WAN link

Westell Wirespeed - Ready

Greatspeed - DSL or ADSL
2Wire models – Broadband Link / DSL (depending on the model)
Speedstream models – DSL
Westell models - DSL

For other models please search our knowledgebase or refer to the manufacturer.
