Windows 8 PPPoE Connection
Follow these instructions to setup a PPPoE connection on your Windows 8 computer. This should only be done when connecting a computer directly to our modem. If you have a router, or modem/router combo, you will want to setup the PPPoE connection on the router itself.
To set up PPPoE on your computer:
- Start by going to the tiled interface by hitting your Windows key. Start typing ‘Control Panel’ and you’ll see the ‘Search’ window open.

- Click on the control panel icon
- In the Search field at the top-right corner of the control panel, type ‘PPPoE’
- Click on ‘Set up a broadband connection’

- In the ‘Create a broadband connection’ window’s ‘User name’ field, type your primary DSLExtreme user name (the username you created when setting up your account). Make sure you include the @dslextreme.com suffex, IE: username@dslextreme.com
- Type your password in the ‘Password’ field.
- Check the ‘Show characters’ box. Double-check your password to make sure it is correct.
- Check the ‘Remember this password’ box.
- Check the ‘Allow other people to use this connection’ box if you have other user accounts that need access to the internet.

- Click on the ‘Create’ button.
- To connect to your new connection find the Connections icon in the taskbar.

After clicking on it, a list of network connections will appear. Select the ‘Broadband Connection’ (assuming you did not change the connection name on the ‘Create a connection’ page).
