I can't log in to my router
First shut off your modem, router and computer. After 30 seconds turn on the modem and wait for the sync light to stop flashing (the sync light may be labeled Sync, DSL, ADSL or Broadband, depending on the model modem). Turn on the router, wait about 30 seconds then power on the computer.
At this point refer to the URL below for the router address. If you are unable to provide your router with a correct username and password first refer to your router manual or the Router Information knowledge base article.
If you are using the correct username and password and you are still unable to get into the router consider resetting the router as a last resort. Warning: Be advised resetting the router will bring everything back to factory settings. This means that if you had any custom WiFi passwords, static routes, ports forwarded, reserved IPs etc this information will be lost and need to be reconfigured on the router by you or your I.T. person. However if you have done nothing special to the router, and it is already set to factory default, resetting it should not hurt anything. To reset, locate the reset button on the router, normally a small indented button that must be pushed with something like an unbent paperclip. Press the reset button and hold it down for 10-20 seconds, wait while the router reboots. If you are still unable to access the router, call the manufacturer of the router for further tech support.
