Efficient SpeedStream 5260
Efficient SpeedStream 5260 Check your DSL modem lights Understanding what the status lights on your DSL modem indicate can help you identify and resolve DSL connection issues.
How to interpret your 5260 modem lights
After you have tried powering down and restarting your DSL modem, computer and any other networking devices, you should look at the lights on the front of the modem panel to check your connection status.
- First, check the sys light, make sure that the power self-test completes successfully and the light turns a steady green.
- The enet light will then begin to flash green when Ethernet traffic is detected.
- The 5260 will begin to negotiate the optimum transmission rate and attempt to train the line at the highest rate specified. This process usually only takes a minute, but if renegotiation of data rates is necessary, it may take several minutes during which time the 5260 is not yet operational.
- While the unit negotiates and attempts to train the line at the optimum DSL rate, the dsl light will blink yellow. The light will light solid yellow when a link is established.
- Eventually, the dsl light will turn solid green when it is ready to transmit data.
- The atm light will flash green when the modem is transmitting and receiving data.
