Mac Mail Setup
To set up Mac Mail for IMAP, perform the following steps:
Open Mac Mail. Go to the 'File' menu and select ‘Add Account'.
On the 'Choose a mail account to add...' pane, select 'Add Other Mail Account'.
Click the 'Continue' button.
On the 'Add a Mail Account' page enter:
-Full Name: Enter your first and last name. This is the name that will appear in the ‘From’ field of messages you send.
-Email Address: Enter your entire email address (e.g., [email protected]).
-Password: Enter the password for your email account.
IMPORTANT: Hold down the ‘Option’ key on your keyboard. The ‘Create’ button will change to a ‘Next’ button. Click ‘Next’
On the Incoming Mail Server Info’ screen, select ‘IMAP’
Note that while IMAP is preferred, user’s wishing to use the older POP settings, select ‘‘POP’
Enter:
-Mail Server: mail.dslextreme.com
-Email Address: Enter your entire email address (e.g., [email protected]).
-Password: Enter the password for your email account.
Click ‘Next’
On the ‘Outgoing Mail Server Info’ screen, enter:
-SMTP Server: smtp.dslextreme.com
-Email Address: Enter your entire email address (e.g., [email protected]).
-Password: Enter the password for your email account.
Click ‘Create’
You can now use your account to send and receive email.
