How do I configure The Bat to obtain my email?
The Bat
The bat is a popular and powerful mail client. The bat features many advanced rule options as well as spam filtering options. The Bat has been created specifically to deal with large amounts of email and it is great in doing so. You can download a trial of The Bat at http://www.ritlabs.com/en/products/thebat/.
1. The first thing you are going to want to do is open up The Bat. If this is your first time opening the bat the new account configuration will come up automatically. If you have used the bat before go to account>new. The Bat will then request that you name the account, you can name the account anything you like. Once you have named the account click next.
2. Now enter in your full name in the full name field. This is the name that will be displayed when you send email. Type in your email address @dslextreme.com in the email address field. You may leave the organization field blank. After you have filled out these fields click next.
3. The bat will now ask what kind of mail server you interface with. You may choose either IMAP4 or POP3, make sure not to choose MAPI, which is an exchange server. You must also input the names of your incoming and outgoing mail server. Your incoming mail server is mail.dslextreme.com, your smtp server is smtp.dslextreme.com. After you have filled out these fields click next.
4. Now enter your username and password into their respective fields. Your username is your email address without the @dslextreme.com suffix and your password is the password you selected when you created this account. When all fields are completed click next.
5. Now you will be prompted to check your settings. Select no and then select finish. Checking your settings simply displays them for you and is not necassary.
Congratulations you have now completed configuring the bat to obtain your email. Simply click on the get mail button in order to retrieve your mail.
