Setting up IMAP Email in Outlook 2003
Outlook 2003 IMAP
- Open Outlook, go to the “Tools” menu at the top
- Select “E-mail Accounts”
- In the following window select “Add a new e-mail account” and press Next
- Select “IMAP” and press Next
- The field "Your Name" can be what ever you wish
- “E-Mail Address” field is self explanatory
- After entering the email address you'll see it fills in the “User Name” field with the text prior to the @ sign in the email address specified
- The "User Name" field should actually contain the full email address
- The "Password" field should of course contain the password
NOTE: The password field will only allow input if the "Remember Password" box is checked
- “Incoming and Outgoing” server fields should be set to mail.dslextreme.com and smtp.dslextreme.com
- At this point all fields on the page should be filled in
- Click the "More Settings" button
NOTE: The "Mail Account" field in this window represents the name to display in Outlook for this particular account; by default this field will have the IMAP server name. This field can be modified to a more relevant Title without affecting the functionality of the IMAP account.
- Here you will click on the "Outgoing Server Tab"
- Check the box for "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication "
- Then select "Log on using"
- The "User Name" will be the full email address.
- The "Password" field will be your password
NOTE: The password field will only allow input if the "Remember Password" box is checked
- Press OK to close the window
- Press Next on the "E-Mail Accounts" window and then press Finish
The IMAP account should now appear in your mail folders list on the left of Outlook
