What is DNS?

What is DNS and what does it do?

DNS (Domain Name System) resolves a name to an IP address.  This allows us to browse the internet using easily remembered names like DSLExtreme.com or Google.com as opposed to remembering IP Addresses, like 66.51.205.15 or 74.125.45.100.

DSL Extreme provides domain name servers for our customers to use.  This information can be found on the General Settings page.
