How to use Anti Spam and Anti Virus Protection Spam Protection and Email Virus Protection Your DSL Extreme email account is protected by anti virus and anti spam functions. If an email with an attached virus is detected, the email is immediately deleted and a response is sent to the sender informing them that they sent an email that contained a virus. Anti Virus protection is turned on by default when you create a new user. If you want to turn it off log into web mail with the account you want to alter these settings with. Select options and then select spam and anti virus options. Click on the link that reads "Click here to disable" to disable anti virus protection for our mailbox. It is not recommended that you disable anti virus features. The other feature available to you is an anti spam filter. This creates a server side folder called SPAM. The script will then filter all mail it deems as spam into the spam box. There are 3 levels of spam protection low, medium, and high. Low offers the lowest level of protection, where as high offers the highest level of protection. To activate anti spam protection first log into web mail with the account you want to activate anti spam features for. Then click on options>antispam and anti virus. Then click on the link that reads "click here to enable anti spam". It is recommended that keep your protection level on low as this will eliminate most spam sent to you. It is not recommended that you disable your spam protection, it is also not recommended that you lower your level of protection. If you have your mail server type set to POP3 you will be unable to check the spam box from your mail client. If this is the case you would want to log into web mail in order to check the SPAM folder and make sure that no valid email has accidentally filtered into it.
