  1. The first step to setting up your NETGEAR router is to physically connect it. Connect the Ethernet cable from the modem to the Internet port of the router. Then connect an Ethernet cable from the computer to any numbered port on the back of the router.

  1. Now open your web browser and type the following IP address into the address bar, 192.168.0.1, and then click go. If you get a page cannot be displayed error then proceed to the "I cannot connect to my router" knowledge base article.

  1. You will be prompted for a username and password. Enter admin as the username and admin as the password and then click ok. If you are unable to log into your router refer to the, I can't log into my router knowledge base article.

  1. The NETGEAR configuration page will now display. If you have chosen this knowledge base article you have a static IP and will be configuring your router accordingly. First off place a dot in the radio button that states your internet connection does not require a log on. Then enter the provided static IP information into the IP, subnet, gateway and DNS fields. DNS Numbers are 66.51.205.100 and 66.51.206.100 and Northern California is 66.218.44.5 and 66.218.44.90. When you have entered all information into the above fields click the apply button at the bottom of the page.
