WiFi Setup: Motorolla and Arris NVG models 510, 589, 599  

To change the Name of your WiFi network (SSID) or Password from their default open a web browser on any device that is connected to the modem. It is best to use a wired instead of WiFi connection to the modem.

1.       Gather the appropriate information:

   Look at the black label located on the side of the modem and note the Device Access Code. You will be required to enter this after logging in.


 
2.       Open a web browser on your computer and type following into your address bar: 192.168.1.254
3.       Hit Enter or Return on your keyboard
4.       Once logged in, click on Home Network then WiFi or Wireless
5.       You can change the Network Name displayed by entering anything the Network Name (SSID) field. Make sure you don’t put anything that is personally identifiable here such as your name or address, since this information is broadcast in the open.
6.       You’re WiFi password can be changed in the Password field a few lines below the Network Name.



 
7.       To store your changes click on the Save button at the bottom of the page.
 
Note: If you change your WiFi password, you will be prompted to re-enter your password on any device that has been connected via WiFi.
